The Pottawattamie County Conference Board meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, Pottawattamie County Courthouse, Council Bluffs, Iowa by Chairman Melvyn Houser.
Members present: Mayors: Mayor James Braden, Macedonia. School Directors: Doug Klahn, Treynor Schools; Julie Handbury, Underwood Schools; Don Christensen, Lewis Central Schools. Supervisors: Lynn Leaders; Melvyn Houser. Others present were: Steve Palm, Conference Board Clerk and County Assessor; Mary Pat Mitchell, Deputy Assessor; Bill Kealy, Chief Deputy Assessor; Sandy Whittington, Executive Secretary; Kevin Kreimeyer, Appraiser II; Jan OĠNeill, Office Manager.
Roll call was conducted by means of sign in sheet and a quorum was established.
A motion was made by Lynn Leaders and seconded by Doug Klahn to approve the minutes of the February 23, 2005, Conference Board meeting. The motion was passed.
A motion was made by Jim Braden and seconded by Lynn Leaders to open the public hearing portion of the meeting. The motion was passed.
The Clerk presented the Chairman with the proof of publication form as published in the Daily Nonpareil on Saturday, February 26, 2005.
No one from the public spoke either in favor or against the published budget.
A motion by Doug Klahn with a second by Don Christensen to close the public hearing portion of the meeting. The motion was passed.
A motion by Jim Braden with a second by Lynn Leaders to accept the Assessor's 2005-06 budget as published. The motion was passed.
A motion by Don Christensen and seconded by Doug Klahn to authorize the Assessor to spread the cost of living salary increase (4%) into the new Assessor's Office Pay Plan. The motion was passed.
A motion by Lynn Leaders and seconded by Jim Braden to authorize the Assessor to transfer funds as needed in accordance with the adopted budget. Said transfers authorized during the year, or at the end of the year. The motion was passed.
Attached to these minutes and as part of these minutes are copies of the approved assessor's budget for fiscal year 2005-06, the roll call sheet, Proof of Publication document, Agendas, sign in sheets, and a letter from Senator Mike Gronstal to the Conference Board.
Being no further business, upon a motion by Lynn Leaders and a second by Don Christensen, the Conference Board adjourned subject to call. The motion was passed.
At the request of the Assessor, a Liaison Committee was chosen. Representatives are as follows:
